BPD/C-PTSD

How can I best look after my mental health? I’ve been diagnosed with BPD and C-PTSD. I also have been sober for 12 days now but have been crying nearly everyday and have been struggling to keep myself sane. I don’t have much support locally other than clinical support and my boyfriend. My family leave all over the place. I’m just reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced similar symptoms from their mental health issues. I’m currently in a mental health unit at hospital. I’m supposed to be getting transferred from here to a rehab. I just spend most of my day in bed depressed but I have been trying things like going outside in the sun, eating regularly, meditation, affirmations, etc. but my mood seems to still be so low. I’ve asked for my higher power to lift the weight off my shoulders and hoping this will help but any advice would be amazing at this point. Thanks for taking the time.

Re: BPD/C-PTSD

Hi @Cramseyyy, just wanted to pop by and say welcome to the forums.

It sounds like you're already doing some great things to take care of your mental health, but I'm sure that some of our lovely community members will be able to share some strategies that have helped them in similar situations.

Even just making this post is another step forwards so good on you

Re: BPD/C-PTSD

Hey there,

Being in the throes of a new diagnosis is probs the hardest part of this journey. Know that what you are feeling rn is completely normal. Be kind and patient with yourself. I'm 5 yrs into a bipolar and cPTSD diagnosis and im still learning and healing but I remember those early days in hospital and feeling like you're in limbo. You will feel alive again, you will learn about your mental health and you will master it. You will meet professionals along the way who will guide you as you recover. Find ways to be kind to yourself everyday. This is the hardest part and you'll get through it. It's great you've found this community to help you along as well 🙂 well done on reaching out.

Re: BPD/C-PTSD

Hi there @Cramseyyy ,

Thank you for posting and sharing a little about yourself. It takes a lot of effort to reach out. I'm hearing how hard things have been for you.

Well done for being sober for 12 days. I recognise this is not easy and it can really affect our body. If you are concerned about what you are experiencing, I'd encourage you to reach out to staff. Also, all the best with rehab.

I have also been diagnosed with BPD and CPTSD. It's taken a lot of work for me to get to where I am now, but it IS possible.

Please know you are not alone. We are sitting with you.

Re: BPD/C-PTSD

Hi @Cramseyyy

Congrats on being sober! 🌸

Others have given you some good advice, but I'd like to say that your body is probably readjusting to different chemical levels now. Keep reaching out to professionals and be so proud of yourself for getting the help you need. It takes time to align the body and mind, keep going on your healing journey! Find your inspo, and keep your head high 💜
